Once upon a time in a group talk, a group of sex workers, many of whom were my personal friends, were talking about the Republican Convention. The group laughed as they learned that many of them were making plans to follow the conservative conventions around the country like 70s groupies following Led Zepplin. They knew from experience they made the most money from conservatives. “Oh yeah. They love us,” said a participant, “me and the girls always go to conventions and get paid.”

The fact is the redder the state, the more the people love trans porn. The more a community hates trans people, the more they want to have sex with us. Skeptical? Then see below.

This map may look like a presidential voting map since most places in red are the same areas that voted for Trump. What you’re seeing are the places where transgender porn was searched on Google. The redder the area, the more they looked for trans porn.  Florida and Texas, two–places with some of the vilest of anti-transgender legislation being passed, are unsurprisingly searching HEAVILY for trans porn.

The data forces one to consider–why would someone who obsessively searches for transgender porn, actively vote for transgender people to be made illegal. Are they so ashamed to be attracted to trans people? The average transphobe doesn’t acknowledge that a trans man is a man or a trans woman is a woman. They see their attraction to us as some perversion. In my experience as a trans woman, most men feel like they’ve been “turned gay” when they are attracted to me. Instead, they should realize they are attracted to my femininity being expressed. It’s not like they’re getting a hard-on looking at Tom of Finland photos. And if they did, good for them! They should consider themselves lucky. Being a cis gay man is cool!

I hardly mention women because most statistics show men seek out porn more often to masturbate. I don’t mention non-binary people because—I mean—how often do we see ANY studies which include non-binary people? But don’t think that trans people aren’t fetishized by cis women too.

Thinking about these repressed people makes me imagine an episode of Dr. Who where everyone on Earth is linked to some communication system. Dr. Who can communicate with every human telepathically but he allows his human companion to speak to all of humanity. Based on this data, I would say to the world, “It’s okay to want to have sex with trans people. We are VERY, VERY HOT.”

I think we would be surprised by how much anti-transgender violence would vanish if humanity had the tiniest bit of growth from this repression. It’s not hyperbole to say lives would be saved. I have friends who would still be here today if their attackers simply accepted their attraction to a trans person.

Trans people are beautiful. We are divine. We are worthy of attraction, positive romantic partnerships, and (for the love of god) a life where we DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT REPRESSED PEOPLE BEING ATTRACTED TO US.
